What is the difference between colour correction and an ordinary colour appointment?
An ordinary colour appointment usually works with a relatively predictable starting point. Colour correction deals with an added complication such as artificial pigment build-up, banding, uneven lightening, unwanted tones, compromised sections or a substantial change from the existing colour. We determine whether your appointment is corrective during consultation.
Do I need a consultation before booking colour correction?
Yes. New colour clients must attend a consultation before any colour service is booked. A consultation is also appropriate for existing clients planning a significant change, returning after a long break from colour or dealing with an unexpected result.
Can you correct box-dyed hair?
Box-dyed hair can often be changed or improved, but the available options depend on the shade, product type, number of applications and current condition. Several applications of dark permanent colour can create considerable build-up, so strand testing may be required before we can recommend the route or likely outcome.
Can you take my hair from dark to blonde in one appointment?
Some starting points allow a substantial change in one appointment, but many dark-to-light corrections require more than one stage. We will not promise a particular level of blonde until we have assessed the colour history, condition and test results.
Can you fix bleach-damaged hair?
We can rebalance uneven colour, create a more manageable plan and recommend treatments and home care to support compromised hair. No treatment can return severely damaged hair to an untouched state. Depending on the condition, we may recommend adding depth, delaying further lightening or removing damaged ends before continuing.
Can you correct colour created by another salon?
Yes. Corrective work frequently involves colour applied elsewhere. We do not need to criticise the previous stylist to understand the problem; we need an accurate history, a clear view of the starting point and an honest conversation about the desired outcome.
How long does colour correction take?

Do I need an allergy test?
Yes. An allergy test must be completed at least 48 hours before your first chemical or colour service with JamesB Hair. Additional incompatibility or strand testing may also be required depending on your history and proposed service.
